According to the Department of Transport of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, from October 1 to 7, the autonomous region recorded a total of 39.0362 million cross-regional passenger trips, an average of 5.5766 million trips per day. The transportation sector in Inner Mongolia maintained stable and orderly operations throughout the holiday. Overall performance featured “one stable indicator and two increases”: “one stable indicator” means overall cross-regional passenger flow remained steady; “two increases” refer to rises in average daily commercial passenger transport volume by rail, road and air, as well as the number of new energy vehicles served at charging facilities, up 7.83% and 67.27% respectively.

Over the seven-day holiday, commercial passenger transport services in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region handled a total of 6.458 million passenger trips, averaging 922,600 trips per day, representing a 7.83% year-on-year increase in daily volume. The road network ran smoothly overall. Expressways across the region recorded a total of 5.5526 million vehicle passages, or 793,200 vehicle passages per day.

To safeguard holiday travel, Inner Mongolia’s transport authorities rolled out tailored emergency response plans for sections of expressways and ordinary national and provincial trunk roads prone to congestion or slow-moving traffic, and toll stations with heavy daily traffic. Known as “one strategy per highway”, “one strategy per section”, “one strategy per service area” and “one strategy per toll station”, these measures ensured unimpeded traffic on the autonomous region’s road network. Authorities carried out comprehensive routine safety inspections, open inspections and unannounced visits, and law enforcement checks to urge entities to fulfill their primary responsibilities for workplace safety and rectify identified problems and eliminate safety hazards in a timely manner.

A total of 173,900 vehicles received charging services over the holiday.

To support travel by new energy vehicles, 1,930 charging connectors have been installed across 103 pairs of expressway service areas to ensure new energy vehicles can travel without running out of charge. Busy service areas adopted customized support plans under the “one strategy per service area” framework. Based on real-time traffic and charging load, authorities flexibly deployed temporary charging facilities and guided vehicles to divert to service areas on the opposite carriageway. During the holiday, charging services were provided to a cumulative 173,900 vehicles. (Text and photos: Department of Transport of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region)
