The Shanghai Enterprise Overseas Cooperation Conference was held at Shanghai Global Harbor on November 6. The conference focused on the needs of companies pursuing international expansion and drew on the strengths of the Shanghai Overseas Cooperation Alliance for Enterprises to provide a platform for targeted matchmaking and mutually beneficial cooperation among partners in China and abroad. It aimed to help Shanghai companies expand successfully overseas, support high-quality overseas companies seeking to invest and establish operations in Shanghai, and contribute to the development of the city’s “Five Centers” (international economic, financial, trade, shipping, and science and technology innovation centers).

At the conference

The four-part program comprised announcements of the alliance’s achievements, policy briefings, keynote presentations, and roundtable discussions. The sessions showcased the alliance’s work since its founding, explained policies supporting overseas expansion, shared practical lessons from recent international expansion projects, and examined in depth how companies can cooperate across borders. The event also provided a platform for Shanghai’s private enterprises, overseas Chinese community organizations, and professional service providers to connect and exchange ideas, helping businesses strengthen their capacity for international expansion.

To deepen exchanges between domestic and overseas partners, organizers held two dedicated matchmaking sessions alongside the conference. One focused on countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America, while the other covered Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and China’s Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions. Representatives from countries and regions including Germany, Tanzania, Brazil, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong discussed use cases in key local industries, market demand, models for implementing joint projects, and industry ecosystems. They also recommended itineraries for business visits.

Following the conference, overseas guests will visit the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). They will tour the expo’s themed exhibition areas, learn about new products and services from around the world, experience the vitality of the Chinese market firsthand, and seek new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation.
