Recently, in the trading hall of Sichuan United Environment Exchange in Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, a huge electronic screen has been continuously renovated. CCER (national certified voluntary emission reduction) projects from more than 20 provinces and cities are listed for trading, covering wind power, hydropower, photovoltaic power generation, etc.

It is reported that enterprises achieve the goal of energy conservation and emission reduction through technological upgrading under the carbon emission quota set by the government. If the actual carbon emission of the enterprises is higher than the quota, they need to buy the quota equal to their own carbon emission in the market, and vice versa, they can sell the rich quota in the market to gain income.

As a key point of the carbon peak and carbon neutralization, in 2016, Sichuan United Environment Exchange became the first carbon trading institution in China's pilot area of non- carbon emission trading and the eighth carbon trading institution in China, marking that Sichuan, a major clean energy province, has officially entered the ranks of national carbon emission trading.

As of July 31, 2021, the cumulative trading volume of CCER in Sichuan carbon market ranks first in western China and in the forefront of the country according to comparable standards. Especially since 2021, the trading volume of CCER in Sichuan carbon market has increased by 483% compared with the same period in 2020. The vitality of certified emission reduction trading market is constantly released and enhanced.

By 2022, Sichuan will build a carbon neutralization innovation service platform and implement a number of international and national large-scale carbon neutralization demonstration projects, such as the World University Games, so as to significantly improve the province's participation in carbon neutralization and expand the coverage of carbon neutralization.
