Gateka Liesse: Doctoral Student's "Bright Vision" Begins in Shenyang

　　Gateka Liesse, originally from Burundi, has been studying in Dalian for years before earning her master's degree in 2022. She then decided to study for a doctorate under Dr. He Wei of He Eye Specialist Hospital, which contributed to her move to Shenyang. From then on, the city’s warmth, hospitality and openness left an everlasting mark on her.

　　"I arranged accommodation in Shenyang through a real estate agent beforehand, but the location was too far away from my workplace. I wanted to find a different place. It was challenging to switch accommodations overnight, yet the agent explored numerous options for me. Due to various reasons, it wasn't possible to move to a new home right away. At midnight, this agent came in the rain to help me secure temporary lodging and by the next day, she arranged a new home for me." It is this kind of selfless and wholehearted help from strangers that made Gateka Liesse truly fall in love with Shenyang.

　　During her studies at He Eye Specialist Hospital, Gateka Liesse not only acquired professional knowledge but also felt the warmth and support akin to that of a family.

　　"People here invite me to participate in various activities and enjoy authentic Shenyang cuisine. Together, we explore Shenyang's history, culture, natural scenery and charm of scientific and technological innovation. Through these interactions, our friendships grew." Gateka Liesse gradually came to realize that Shenyang is a city brimming with openness, inclusivity, and a spirit of innovation.
