Recently, two international students from Huaiyin Institute of Technology visited Xuyi County in Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province, where they had an immersive experience of the green transformation across the entire crayfish industry chain. They explored the electricity-driven innovations behind the rapid growth of Xuyi’s crayfish sector.
Yassamine from Morocco and Abdulrazaq Ibrahim Said Ahmed from Ethiopia visited several key sites in Xuyi County, including the National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park, the Xuyi Crayfish Museum, the “All-Electric Kitchen” of Jiangsu Xuneng Group Co., Ltd., and the crayfish-themed cultural and culinary street known as “Ke Street.” There, they learned about the rice-crayfish integrated farming model and fully electric processing and cooking procedures, witnessing firsthand how crayfish make the journey from paddy field to dining table.
The two students shared that this journey helped them deeply understand the crucial role electricity plays throughout the entire crayfish industry chain in Xuyi, as well as the distinctive charm of the local specialty. They said they would serve as ambassadors for Xuyi crayfish and help introduce this delicious delicacy to friends around the world.
In recent years, State Grid Huai’an Power Supply Company has focused on supporting rural revitalization by aligning with the needs of local industries. By integrating Xuyi’s “rice-crayfish symbiosis” development plan with rural power grid upgrade strategies, the company has continuously optimized the local power grid. It has also promoted rural electrification enhancement projects and green energy models such as “all-electric aquaculture” and “smart kitchens,” ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for the entire crayfish industry chain—from farming to processing to cold-chain logistics.
