On February 27, the "Charming Beijing" Overseas Communication Achievements Exhibition and the 2023 Launch Ceremony of "Charming Beijing" TV Series (hereinafter referred to as the "Event") took place at the Metaverse Experience Center in Shougang Park, Beijing.
The Overseas Communication Project of "Charming Beijing" TV Series is an innovative cultural project hosted by the Information Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and organized by CRI Online of China Media Group, to deepen exchanges between China and foreign countries. Since its first session in 2019, it has invited production teams from countries such as Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Russia, Japan, Serbia, Italy, Croatia and the Republic of Korea to Beijing for interviews and video shooting. The TV series has won popularity in those countries after being available on their TV stations.
The Event triggered participants' interest and was praised by them on-site. During the Event, the TV series sparked discussions and resonated among all the guests. Professionals from the media sector and experts in the communication industry shared their thoughts at the venue. Some analyzed the innovative and unique features of the TV series from the perspective of communication, while some commented that they found the process of the continuous branding of Beijing fascinating. Several guests extended their expectations and good wishes for enhancing friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries. Dual Driving Forces of Innovation and Technology Support Beijing in Storytelling in a Better Way

Liu Yanping, Director of the Urban and Real Estate Economics Research Laboratory of the National Academy of Economic Strategy, CASS, replied in an interview that he was touched by the innovation made in the overseas publicity of the TV Series. The TV series was produced to showcase the city's charm in foreign friends' eyes. Based on individuals' experiences, it offers both detailed and overall perspectives to make the series reach more audiences easily and gain popularity.
In Liu's opinion, the TV series made great progress in the way of building an urban image. "We got used to defining and developing the image of a city on our own in the past. But now we complete the same task with audiences at home and abroad. Actually, it is a good channel to cooperate in creating a city's valuable image. In the era of the internet, it is particularly a vital way to establish the image of a city, especially in making the image more valuable. Beijing has done a good job in this regard."

Kim Junbum, the host from the Republic of Korea in the TV series and Chairman of Beijing Hanbandao Technology Co., Ltd. visited a digital exhibition titled "A Dream Journey through Panorama of Rivers and Mountains". Kim commented: "The combination of Chinese national treasures and digital technologies provides more people with opportunities to experience the history and charm of traditional Chinese culture and better facilitates its inheritance."
Yin Zi, Marketing Manager of Phoenix Digital Technology, introduced that "A Dream Journey through Panorama of Rivers and Mountains" is a digital art immersive exhibition program established by Phoenix Digital Technology based on a national treasure - "A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains", a silk-based ink and color painting from the Northern Song Dynasty. When the TV series was released, Liu was delighted at knowing that it acquainted other people around the globe with the natural scenery, culture, scientific and technological achievements, and innovative strengths of Beijing. "In the past, when I was in other cities, I've been thinking about the way to introduce Beijing and also wondering whether it was attractive to others. After watching episodes of the TV series, I truly had a better understanding of Beijing's appealing features and learnt about the compliments it had received from global audiences," said Liu.
Liu further remarked: "Thanks to the TV series, I think that people all over the world may be more familiar with Beijing in the future when we talk about this city. People will know that there is a charming city in the East, which attracts people to pay a visit."

Go Yeongha, Director of ROK Start-up Park believed that this years "Charming Beijing" TV series was of vital significance because it was produced in the year marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Republic of Korea. "The Republic of Korea and China are close neighbors and share similarities in culture. The TV series presents the two countries' friendly exchanges from the South Korean people's eyes. It will boost mutual understanding and facilitate cooperation between South Korea and China, and contribute to the mutual development of the two countries," said Go.
Kim Junbum, the host from the Republic of Korea in the TV series commented that he got a chance to know different people's ideas about Beijing and also had a deeper understanding of and more affection for the city through the TV series. "I am a foreign entrepreneur in Beijing and my visit to ZGC Software Park helps me better understand the advantages to start a business in Beijing. I believe that more young people from my country will know better about the real China and Beijing after watching the TV series. More foreigners will come to China or Beijing for further development," said Kim.
