The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has laid out the blueprint for national rejuvenation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. The series “A Glimpse of China: What Does the Chinese Modernization Mean to the World” features the global resonance to Chinese modernization and presents interviews with experts and scholars from across the world, providing an external perspective on the scientific connotation and specific characteristics of the Chinese modernization. The interviews also discuss the referential potential of Chinese high-quality development for other developing countries.
The year of 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania. During the past 60 years, the relationship between China and Tanzania has stood the test of time, with fruitful cooperation in various fields, making it a model of South-South cooperation. In this episode, we interviewed Khalifa Mtumwa, a Tanzanian economist. From his perspective, during the process of modernization, the practical measures taken by the Chinese government to significantly improve the living standards of its people are worth learning for African countries. He said that in recent years, the bilateral trade between China and Tanzania has increased significantly, and Tanzania has benefited a lot from its collaboration with China. He calls for Africa and China to further strengthen cooperation in fields of investment, trade, and agricultural modernization, which will not only facilitate mutual growth but also promote the common prosperity of the Global South.
