State Grid Huai'an Ensures Safe Operation of Transmission Lines with Digital Technology

On September 9, staff from the State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company conducted an inspection of the 220kV Lianli transmission line using a transmission visualization system to ensure the line's safe and stable operation.

Building on manual inspections, the State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company has implemented a transmission visualization system to provide 24-hour real-time monitoring of all transmission lines in the city. This visualization system consists of high-definition monitoring devices installed on transmission towers and a backend system, enabling real-time monitoring of the transmission line corridors. The system can promptly detect potential hazards such as cranes or agricultural drones operating near the lines. When a hazard approaches the transmission line, the system automatically captures images, assesses the distance between the hazard and the line, and sends alerts to the transmission line maintenance personnel.

Transmission Lines and Towers

Upon receiving the alert, maintenance personnel can assess the situation based on the surrounding environment and safety risks, then go on-site to provide safety guidance to crane or drone operators. This ensures both the safety of the transmission equipment and the safe operation of cranes and drones.

Additionally, the system can quickly detect hazards like kites or plastic film from greenhouses getting tangled in the lines during windy conditions. It accurately reports the distance between the entanglement point and nearby towers to the maintenance personnel, allowing them to efficiently use laser equipment to remove foreign objects, improving the efficiency of locating and clearing such hazards from the lines.
