Jiaozuo, Henan: Reliable Electricity Safeguards Pomegranate Plantations

“Our soft-seed pomegranates are about to enter the harvest season, and the cold storage and fruit cleaning equipment will soon be put into operation. Thank you for conducting the inspection in time,” said Wang Haitao, head of the Xidayi Soft-Seed Pomegranate Cultivation Base in Gudan Town, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, to the staff from the State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company who came for a visit on September 2.

The Xidayi Soft-Seed Pomegranate Cultivation Base currently covers more than 200 mu (32.9 acres) of pomegranate plantations, with an annual output exceeding 500,000 catties (250,000 kilograms). The fruits typically hit the market in late September. To extend the sales cycle and enhance both fruit quality and economic returns, the base has been equipped with cold storage facilities. The stable operation of the refrigeration system, along with auxiliary equipment such as temperature monitoring, lighting, and ventilation, relies on a consistent power supply.

The State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company has tailored a support plan for the base, deploying staff to conduct comprehensive inspections of the distribution lines, distribution cabinets, and transformers. They used temperature measuring devices to identify potential overheating issues at equipment connections and checked the distribution boxes for irrigation and processing equipment. Given the specific power requirements of the cold storage, the staff performed specialized checks on the power supply circuits for refrigeration units and temperature control systems. They also guided base personnel on standard operating procedures to prevent equipment failures caused by improper electricity usage.

During this inspection, the staff also carried out simulation tests on electrical equipment to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during critical periods.

Looking ahead, the State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company will roll out regular safe electricity use services for cultivation bases of characteristic agricultural products within its area. Through reliable power supply and high-quality services, the Company aims to support farmers in increasing both production and income.
