Xi'an 205 Institute Community Health Service Station: Creating a "TCM Health Hub" at the Doorstep

As Xi'an strengthens its traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) service system, the TCM clinic at the 205 Institute Community Health Service Station has entered a new phase of "quality enhancement and capacity expansion." The TCM clinic now covers more than 1,200 square meters and houses a grassroots inheritance workstation led by national TCM master Yang Zhen, along with three provincial- and municipal-level expert TCM practitioner workstations. Fifteen specialists from five institutions, including Shaanxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Xi'an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, provide regular consultations at the clinic.

The clinic stocks 432 types of Chinese herbal decoction pieces and offers 25 TCM appropriate technology services across six categories, including Chinese herbal decoctions, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Tuina, and medicated steaming. This not only improves service capacity but also enables community residents to enjoy TCM services comparable to those of Tertiary Level A TCM hospitals in their own neighborhood.

The community family doctor team provides TCM rehabilitation services for the elderly and patients with chronic diseases. For children, the team regularly carries out "green" therapies such as pediatric massage and acupoint application, which are widely welcomed by the public.

Promoting TCM culture is also a major highlight of the 205 Institute Station. The service station has transformed the waiting area into a "TCM experience zone," providing seasonal health teas, playing science outreach videos, and setting up health book corners to enhance patients' sense of gain during their wait. Around the TCM clinic, the community has also created a TCM culture-themed block integrating a culture corridor, landscape features, and a Chinese herbal medicine knowledge wall. Illustrated panels introduce common medicinal herbs from the Qinling Mountains and traditional TCM concepts, making TCM culture "visible, learnable, and memorable," and turning it into a popular health "check-in" spot for neighbors and visitors.
