As of 10:00 a.m. on July 30, the Hami–Chongqing ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission project (referred to as the "Xinjiang-to-Chongqing" project) has delivered over 30 billion kWh of electricity to the Chongqing receiving end since its commissioning, reaching 30.108 billion kWh. The maximum daily transmission volume reached 145 million kWh.

Since July 5, Chongqing has experienced 35°C or higher temperatures for 25 consecutive days, setting a new local record for the longest continuous heatwave in July. The surge in residential cooling demand, coupled with rising power consumption from industrial production and urban operations, pushed the city's grid load to record highs for three consecutive days in mid-July.

To meet the peak summer electricity demand, the "Xinjiang-to-Chongqing" project leverages ±800 kV and 8,000 MW "dual-800" UHVDC transmission technology to deliver wind, solar, and other clean energy from the Gobi regions of Xinjiang directly to Chongqing's load center. During this summer's peak period, the project's maximum transmission power reached 6,000 MW, accounting for approximately one-fifth of Chongqing's peak summer electricity load. This has effectively alleviated local power supply pressure and secured the energy foundation for residential cooling and stable production at key industrial enterprises.
