On August 14, 2026, the Seminar on High-Quality Development of International Medical Services and the 8th Belt and Road Medical Assistance Conference (MASSCON 2026) was held in Beijing. Under the theme "Connecting Expertise Along the Silk Road to Enhance International Healthcare Cooperation", the event brought together health sector representatives from China and abroad to explore ways to advance the high-quality development of international healthcare services and medical rescue.
Hou Xiaomei, Deputy Director General of the International Health Exchange and Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission of China and President and Editor-in-Chief of China Medical Tribune, and Fan Jianping, President of CRI Online under China Media Group (CMG), attended the event and delivered speeches. Other attendees included Li Juan, Deputy Director of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, Wang Haoyun, Deputy Director of the Health Commission of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Dato' Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).

The conference featured discussions on a range of topics, including facilitation of access to healthcare for international patients visiting China, practices and experiences of China and other countries and regions, cross-border medical information service platforms, financial protection and payment settlement, cross-border medical rescue and the development of border port hospitals, medical tourism, and international medical transport. The discussions aimed to promote better coordination of resources related to international healthcare services, overseas health protection, medical rescue and other related fields.

For the first time, the conference also featured an exhibition zone dedicated to international medical cooperation, which showcased international healthcare and border port hospital capabilities, supporting services for international healthcare, emergency medical transport and support, as well as appropriate medical technologies in which China has comparative advantages.
MASSCON 2026 is a major supporting event of the 32nd China International Medical Equipment Exhibition and Scientific Conference (China-Hospeq 2026). Hosted by the International Health Exchange and Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission, this year's China-Hospeq will run from August 14 to 16. More than 200 companies and institutions from over 10 countries and regions, including China, Germany, the United States and Sweden, have been invited to participate in this year's exhibition, with dozens of international conferences and policy seminars arranged as supporting events.
