Jiyuan, Henan: Reliable Power Supports the City’s Vibrant Nighttime Economy

Recently, State Grid Jiyuan Power Supply Company sent staff to conduct an electrical safety inspection in the Erqianjia commercial area in Jiyuan, Henan Province. They carefully checked the operating condition of power distribution cabinets and boxes at night-market sites, focusing on high-power equipment such as induction cookers and ventilation systems in kitchens, as well as barbecue and refrigeration equipment. They also advised business operators on safe and proper electricity use.

During the hot summer months, night markets have become popular places for people to cool off, relax, shop and dine. The company has refined its measures by dividing the service area into zones and sections and assigning personnel to specific sites. It has established 12 service teams, each comprising two to three employees, with designated service areas and clearly defined responsibilities. The teams regularly inspect electricity use at the stalls and provide guidance and assistance to customers in resolving any problems identified. They also carefully inspect distribution facilities in stall areas, address issues such as aging wires and improper wiring, and improve power supply reliability, thereby helping sustain the city’s lively nighttime atmosphere.

With high summer temperatures, high electricity demand and an increased risk of electrical faults, the company conducts temperature checks at key points on transformers and in power distribution rooms around night-market areas during evening peak hours. It carefully analyzes equipment condition data and takes measures such as redistributing loads and rectifying defects to ensure a reliable power supply for the nighttime economy.

Since late July, the company has helped customers resolve 65 electricity-related problems across 22 night-market clusters, addressed 9 safety hazards at night-market stalls, and eliminated 5 defects in distribution facilities in night-market areas. Going forward, it will increase the frequency and coverage of inspections and services in areas with numerous fixed stalls and high electricity demand, strengthen public education on safe electricity use, and support the city’s nighttime economy.
