“Power Warmth” Delivers Care: Wuxi Power Supply Volunteers Safeguard Electricity Safety for Families in Need

On September 7, the "Power Warmth" volunteer service team of State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company went into subdistricts and villages to carry out electrical safety hazard inspections and safety knowledge outreach for key groups such as disadvantaged families and elderly people living alone, helping ensure safety in the community with professional and meticulous service.

Most of the beneficiaries were elderly people living alone, who generally had limited mobility and a weak awareness of electrical safety. Their homes had many hidden hazards, such as aging wiring, damaged sockets, and improper use of electrical appliances. To address this, Wuxi Power Supply Company conducted preliminary surveys, established service records, and implemented a mechanism of “one file per household, regular follow-up visits, and dynamic updates,” organizing staff to visit households one by one and provide targeted assistance.

Volunteers carried out comprehensive inspections of aging wiring, switches and sockets, leakage protection devices, lighting equipment, and commonly used appliances. They focused on rectifying problems such as unauthorized connections and wiring, exposed lines, and aging equipment. Problems that could be corrected on site were handled immediately, reducing the risk of electrical accidents at the source. Young volunteers also chatted with the elderly to learn about their daily needs and electricity-related difficulties, reminded them of safety precautions, and left them service hotline numbers so they could seek help at any time.

The activity covered seven townships and subdistricts, provided door-to-door services to more than 140 families in need, inspected and rectified over 130 hidden hazards, and distributed more than 220 electrical safety manuals and convenience service cards, effectively helping elderly people feel safer when using electricity at home.
