Amid the verdant hills and clear waters of Hongjiang Town in Yichun, Jiangxi Province, a cluster of antique-style buildings featuring gray-tiled roofs, white walls, and upturned eaves is taking shape. This is Jiangxi’s first substation featuring traditional Chinese architecture—the 110 kV Hongjiang Substation. Once completed, it will achieve innovative integration between power infrastructure, the natural environment, and the local cultural tourism landscape.

Hongjiang Town, located in the Mingyue Mountain Hot Spring Scenic Area in Yichun, Jiangxi Province, is working to become a nationally leading eco-friendly wellness town. To complement the local tourism landscape, State Grid Yichun Power Supply Company departed from conventional industrial-style architecture from the outset of the substation’s planning. Chinese aesthetic elements—including gray-tiled roofs, upturned eaves, antique-style facades, and relief-adorned walls—allow the substation to blend naturally with the surrounding green mountains, forests, and rural guesthouses, making it a distinctive cultural landmark within the ecological scenic area.

Covering approximately 10,000 square meters, the project’s main structures have been completed. Once operational, it will significantly strengthen the region’s power supply capacity and provide strong support for the local wellness tourism industry. The station will also feature an intelligent rainwater collection and purification system to enable water recycling. Guided by green and low-carbon principles, the project is designed to become a modern eco-friendly power facility.
