Conductor Stringing Completed on Gansu Lot 4 of the Gansu–Zhejiang ±800 kV UHVDC Transmission Project

On August 16, conductor stringing was completed on Gansu Lot 4 of the Gansu–Zhejiang ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission project, a key project under China's west-to-east power transmission program. Gansu Lots 1 and 3 had already reached the same milestone. Together, these milestones marked significant progress in the project's construction in Gansu and laid a solid foundation for the remaining conductor stringing work and equipment installation, as well as for the project to enter operation on schedule.

The project extends from the Wuwei Converter Station in Gansu Province to the Yuezhou Converter Station in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, with a total line length of 2,370 kilometers. As a key project under China's national power development plan, it is expected to transmit more than 36 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to Zhejiang annually once operational. The project will make full use of the abundant wind and solar resources in Gansu's Hexi Corridor and transmit green electricity generated in Gansu's desert and Gobi areas over thousands of kilometers to the power load center in the Yangtze River Delta. It will help optimize the allocation of energy resources between eastern and western China and support the green energy transition and high-quality development of both Gansu and Zhejiang.
