State Grid Gansu Electric Power Research Institute Approved to Establish CAST HOME Workstation

On August 25, it was learned from the Science and Technology Innovation Department of State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company that Electric Power Research Institute of State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company had been approved to establish the Gansu Base Workstation of Electric Power Research Institute of State Grid Gansu Electric Power Company (hereinafter referred to as the "HOME Workstation"), making it an important platform for Gansu Province to attract high-level overseas talent, deepen international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, and pool global innovation resources.

The HOME Program is a key talent and scientific and technological exchange initiative implemented by CAST for overseas scientific and technological talent. It aims to pool global innovation resources and promote in-depth cooperation between overseas scientific and technological talent and domestic industries and research institutions. The approval to establish the HOME Workstation is a strong recognition of the institute's scientific and technological innovation capabilities, its foundation in international cooperation, and its achievements in building a talent development system.

In recent years, State Grid Gansu Electric Power Research Institute has closely aligned its work with the Belt and Road Initiative and the strategic deployment of China-Central Asia energy cooperation. It has supported the application for and construction of the China-Central Asia Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Energy and Meteorology, continuously strengthening its capacity for scientific and technological innovation and international cooperation in key areas such as the high-quality development of new energy and the construction of new power systems. It has actively tackled key technological challenges and accumulated research outcomes in energy meteorological monitoring and early warning, grid-connected operation of new energy, and disaster prevention and mitigation under extreme weather conditions. These efforts have helped build a solid research foundation and engineering application capabilities to support the safe and efficient utilization of new energy, and have laid a firm groundwork for developing an international scientific and technological cooperation platform in energy and meteorology targeting Central Asian countries.

The establishment of the HOME Workstation will further support the application for and construction of the China-Central Asia Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Energy and Meteorology. It will also fully leverage the HOME Program as a platform for attracting high-level overseas talent, facilitating international scientific and technological exchanges, and pooling global innovation resources. Building on State Grid Gansu Electric Power Research Institute's technological strengths and engineering expertise in the energy and power sector, the workstation will actively engage with universities, research institutions, and experts in Belt and Road partner countries to carry out international scientific and technological cooperation in key areas such as new energy development and utilization, energy meteorological monitoring and early warning, new power system operation, and disaster prevention and mitigation. These efforts will provide robust support for the joint laboratory's subsequent work in talent development, joint research and development, research commercialization, and promotion of technical standards.
