As global demand for residential energy storage continues to surge, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company recently completed a major power capacity expansion project for Fox ESS. The project was finalized on July 14, 2026, adding 2,500 kVA of capacity and bringing the company's total connected capacity to 10,000 kVA. The entire process, from application to power delivery, took just two months — over one month shorter than the typical timeline — providing reliable power support for the company's effort to accelerate its global production capacity expansion.
Founded in Wenzhou in 2019, Fox ESS has grown into a global industry leader in just seven years. According to S&P Global Commodity Insights’ 2025 global residential energy storage market ranking, Fox ESS ranked first worldwide in terms of megawatt-hour shipments. Its products now cover more than 90 countries and regions across the globe.
The global energy storage market has been expanding rapidly in recent years. Industry projections indicate that in 2026, new global energy storage installations are expected to reach 158 GW and 459 GWh, representing a 41% year-on-year increase, while global new photovoltaic installations are projected to approach 580 GW. Against this backdrop, Chinese energy storage companies secured nearly 28 GWh of overseas orders in April 2026 alone, covering markets across Europe, Australia, North America, and the Middle East.
Fox ESS has been particularly successful in the Australian market. From February to April 2026, its installations climbed from 12,000 units to 25,000 units, totaling 1.05 GWh and setting a new monthly installation record in Australia's energy storage market. In June 2026, Fox ESS signed strategic cooperation agreements with two major distributors in Australia, OSW and Solar Juice, each for 5 GWh, totaling 10 GWh.
To meet its rapidly growing global order book, Fox ESS officially launched its Phase II smart factory in Wenzhou's Longwan District on June 1, 2026, focusing on the production of PCBA, batteries, and commercial and industrial energy storage products. The factory is over 60% automated, producing one battery pack every seven seconds, with an annual capacity of 13.4 GWh.
State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company responded swiftly through the "Red Boat Pilot, Benefiting Enterprises Together" enterprise support service mechanism, providing end-to-end closed-loop management from consultation to power delivery, and customizing the capacity expansion plan to meet the specific voltage stability requirements of precision equipment. "We had expected it to take over three months, but the power was delivered in just two. This speed has truly solved our urgent need," remarked the electrical manager of Fox ESS. The Phase II factory now operates 24/7, with a monthly production capacity of 200,000 energy storage battery packs. In the first half of 2026 alone, Fox ESS's output value has already surpassed its total for the full year of 2025.
The rapid growth of Fox ESS also reflects a broader trend in Wenzhou, where the new energy sector has become a key driver of the local economic transformation. In the first half of 2026, Wenzhou's new energy industry achieved an industrial added value of 25.38 billion RMB, representing a year-on-year increase of 12.6%.
