Quzhou, Zhejiang: Night Patrols and Temperature Checks Safeguard Power Supply During Summer Peak

On the evening of August 5, operation and maintenance staff from State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company carried out special night inspections and infrared temperature measurements at the 110kV Huabu Substation in Kaihua. With precise operation and maintenance measures, they help ensure reliable power supply amid the summer load peak, bolstering steady local economic and social development.

Sustained sweltering heat has driven a continuous surge in electricity demand for industrial production and daily life across urban and rural areas, putting grid equipment under severe operational pressure this summer. To further shore up the safe and stable operation of the power grid, the company launched a new round of night patrols and temperature checks at all its affiliated substations.

Nighttime power patrols ensure reliable electricity supplies. During operations, maintenance personnel closely monitor grid operating patterns and optimize the dual-track maintenance model of "routine daytime inspections plus special night patrols during peak hours". They conduct regular nighttime temperature monitoring focusing on key substations, main transmission lines and heavily loaded equipment within their jurisdiction, enabling earlier identification, assessment and disposal of equipment defects.

Beneath the night sky, the 110kV Huabu Substation runs in orderly illumination. Following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), patrol officers use high-precision infrared thermometers to conduct full-coverage temperature detection on core equipment including main transformers, disconnectors, switchgear and cable joints. Staff meticulously record temperature readings of every piece of equipment, compare temperature rises corresponding to load variations, and prioritize screening for potential hazards such as equipment overheating, aging and poor contact. They simultaneously verify equipment operating parameters to accurately grasp operational conditions during nightly peak loads, ensuring no blind spots or overlooked risks in inspections.

It is reported that amid high-temperature weather, State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company will further increase the frequency of special night patrols and temperature measurements to consolidate the foundation of grid operation and maintenance. With reliable, stable and high-quality power services, the company will fully secure safe electricity consumption throughout summer, delivering solid power support for high-quality local economic growth and residents’ happy and stable lives.
