Recently, national security officials from the U.S., the Netherlands and Japan concluded high-level negotiations at the White House and agreed to a deal to restrict exports of some advanced chipmaking equipment to China. The New York Times reported that the deal seems likely to put technology industries in the countries on a more even footing, preventing companies in Japan and the Netherlands from rushing in to claim market share in China that has been abandoned by US firms.
