After some Western forces failed to damp Xinjiang cotton, Xinjiang watermelons were boycotted by some western media platforms. Last month, a Japanese nongovernmental tourist group was visiting China’s Xinjiang and some tourists in the group were livestreaming details along the journey on social media. As a result, some contents were blocked by Twitter, which cited that the displayed footage "may contain sensitive content". The blocked footage included the host of an ethnic Uyghur family showing the freshly cut watermelon to the Japanese guests when the family in Turpan was eating lunch.
