Aleksei Savitskii, Head of the Representative Office of Sputnik in China
The "Ten Years of the Belt and Road Initiative: How Can China's Central State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Play a Better Role in International Communication" Roundtable Talk was held in Beijing on June 28th. Aleksei Savitskii, Head of the Representative Office of Sputnik in China emphasized during the seminar that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) serves as an important platform of dialogue and communication for media cooperation among BRI member countries.
Aleksei pointed out in his speech that the world is undergoing profound changes, as a more multipolar and fairer world order needs to be formed. The Belt and Road initiative has emerged as the time requires, bringing opportunities in various aspects to each country.
Upon the growing influence of the BRI, Savitskii quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s previous speech, “…we continue to work with the People's Republic of China to align the integration processes, which are unfolding within the EAEU, and the Belt and Road Initiative…” in order to realize the grand vision of “the Greater Eurasian Partnership.”
In terms of media cooperation, Savitskii said that the Belt and Road Initiative provides a significant platform for media cooperation of BRI member countries. Considering today's international climate of public opinion which has been manipulated to certain extent by Western media, it is particularly important to strengthen media cooperation among BRI countries,thereby breaking the information monopoly of the western media.
