The US navy constantly conducts close-in reconnaissance around China and Russia in the name of "freedom of navigation". Recently, a Chinese and Russian naval patrol operated in waters near Alaska but did not enter U.S. territorial waters, which touched the nerves of some US politicians. In response, an article released on the RT website questioned: “why can China and Russia not sail patrols up to Alaskan waters? Why is one behavior described as ‘freedom of navigation’ but the other is labeled ‘highly provocative’?
