Recently, the UN Security Council failed to adopt the UAE-drafted resolution demanding "immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza " due to a veto cast by the United States. On late night of the day of the veto, the U.S. State Department issued an emergency declaration to Congress, requiring the immediate delivery of 13,981 rounds of tank ammunition worth $106 million to Israel. The move bypassed the 20-day congressional review requirement for such arms sales.
