Recently, the United States announced installation of a temporary pier off the Gaza coast was completed at a cost of 300 million US Dollars. However, aid agencies and the UN emphasize that the floating pier constructed by the US military not only makes the process of delivering humanitarian aid cumbersome, but also makes the volume of aid be far from meeting the needs in the Gaza Strip. The role of this pier is like "a drop in the bucket". A reporter with Al Jazeera bluntly said spending huge sums of money building the pier is nothing more than a US publicity stunt.
