The throughput of Jining Port was 41.06 million tons of cargos or 16,300 standard containers in 2020; while in 2025, it dealt with 86.25 million tons of cargos or 35,500 containers from January to September, representing a great increase in the quality and quantity of the modern port and shipping industry of Jining, the "City of canals" in just several years.

　　The statistics indicate the great momentum generated from Jining's development of the port and shipping industry. In recent years, Jining takes the strategic chance of "building modern integrated transportation and logistics system" to develop ports, shipping and industry, improve inland transportation and build itself as an inland logistics hub in North China by leveraging the "great waterway" of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.

　　Jining accelerates the development of three 100-million-ton-class ports of Liangshan Port, Zhucheng Port and Weishan Port, as well as that of five major operation areas, while focusing on building an integrated roadway-railway-waterway transportation network centering around Liangshan Port to connect Watang-Rizhao Railway and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and enable the delivery of coals from the North to the South via waterway. Meanwhile, Jining builds a powerful engine for the quality development of regional economy by opening multiple container lines for fertilizers, grains and other products. By virtue of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, a network of all kinds of ways is built to tap the potential in modern logistics of the city-the home of profound culture in thousands of years.
