On December 10, 2025 China Wetland School Network and the 1st Asian Wetland School Network Annual Conference opened in Haikou, south China's Hainan province. Representatives from the Chengyang District Wild Animal and Plant Protection Association of Qingdao and seven wetland schools were invited to attend the conference, showcasing Chengyang's achievements in wetland conservation and ecological education. Through diverse presentations, they shared Chengyang's commitment to harmonious coexistence between humans and nature globally.

The conference, jointly organized by the Ramsar Regional Center–East Asia (RRC-EA), Beijing Yuanhe International Wetland Cultural Exchange Center, and the Haikou Wetland Association, aims to build a high-level international exchange platform, promote and share wetland environmental education experiences across Asian countries, and systematically review the achievements of China's wetland school network. Over 180 professionals from China, India, Mongolia, Thailand, and other countries and regions gathered to discuss the future of wetland education in Asia.

At the conference, Chengyang's wetland conservation promotional video The Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains in My Eyes was screened. Seven institutions, including the Jihongtan Sub-district Education Service Center, and Santai Primary School of Xiazhuang Sub-district, displayed their wetland education achievements through exhibition boards. Featured cultural and creative products such as Chionanthus retusus tea, eco-friendly handbags and wildlife-themed postcards were also highly popular among the guests.

During the conference, representatives from Chengyang Tiantaicheng School and the Chengyang District Wild Animal and Plant Protection Association delivered keynote speeches, telling stories of the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature along the Baisha River from different perspectives. Yuantou Primary School was awarded the title of Advanced Collective in Wetland Education, while Xiazhuang Primary School, Danshan Primary School, Xiaoshui Primary School and Jinxiu Kindergarten were awarded the newly-joined wetland school certificates. With this, the number of wetland schools in Chengyang District, Qingdao has reached 22.
