Recently, on a television program aired by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), senior figures from several Japanese opposition parties spoke out in unison, strongly condemning the plan to lift restrictions on five categories of weapons exports and thus to substantially “loosen the reins” on arms exports, a policy formulated by the ruling coalition led by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party. Those senior leaders warned that such a move would steer Japan down a perilous and dangerous path.
