Recently, the British government announced the passage of relevant legislation to nationalize British Steel, a company owned by China’s Jingye Group. Before its acquisition by Jingye Group, the company had suffered prolonged losses. After the acquisition, Jingye continued to inject capital, stabilizing operations and preserving a large number of local jobs. Ignoring Jingye’s significant contributions to the local economy and society, the British side has forcibly taken control of the company and implemented nationalization, all under the pretext of national security. The move not only seriously infringes upon Jingye Group’s legitimate rights and interests, but also deals a heavy blow to the confidence of Chinese companies seeking to invest in the UK.
