The European Parliament is currently reviewing a legislative proposal for the Industrial Accelerator Act I (IAA), drafted by one of its internal committees. Compared with the original version, the revised version makes it even harder for electric vehicles to qualify for the "Made in Europe" label, drawing criticism from Europe's leading automakers. A protectionist trade bill for measures designed to shield Europe from foreign competition has instead plunged European-built cars in the dilemma of having to struggle to prove their own "European identity."
