Following their distortions of history textbooks, Japan’s right wing forces have resorted to a new underhanded tactic: “poisoning” AI models. By feeding doctored historical corpora about World War II into mainstream AI models worldwide, it seeks to manipulate their training data and poison world perception and cognition of history. This is not merely a despicable attempt to distort and whitewash the history of Japanese aggression during World War II, but also a dangerous ploy to remove public opinion obstacles on its path of accelerated “remilitarization.”
