Recently, a group of young scholars from prestigious international universities participating in the 2024 Chengdu Open Rowing Regatta visited Xinjin High School, where they explored the history of Xinjin's ancient architecture, experienced the intangible cultural heritage of Xinjin rope weaving, and engaged in face-to-face interactions with local students.

Cultural Exchange Activities with International Students

During the cultural exchange activities, the students were introduced for the first time to Xinjin's thousand-year-old intangible heritage craft — "rope-weaved rowing." As they listened to the presenter's explanation, the young scholars carefully studied the ancient technique, immersing themselves in the unique charm of this traditional craft.

At the Yaotan Wetland, the breathtaking ecological beauty of the Yangma River left the students in awe. When they boarded the traditional loong boats, the sensation of the paddles gliding through the calm waters—distinct from the fast-paced feel of competitive rowing—allowed them to appreciate the serene and unique essence of Chinese culture.

Students Experiencing the Rope-Weaved Rowing

The 2024 Chengdu Open Rowing Regatta coincided with China’s traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. To blend traditional sports with global sporting trends, Xinjin meticulously prepared a rich "cultural, sports, and tourism feast." At Langqiao Square, traditional Chinese sports such as cuju (an ancient form of soccer), archery, touhu (pitch-pot), and chuiwan (a precursor to golf) made an appearance. Meanwhile, loong boats and canoeing, both popular at the World Games, attracted considerable attention.
