“New Weinan: 40 Years On” Reporting Tour Launched

　　Dubbed as the root of the Chinese nation and the source of Chinese culture, Weinan boasts both natural landscapes and cultural heritages. It’s the eastern gateway to Shaanxi, linking the province to the outside world. In the past 40 years, together with the province and the country, it held high the flag of reform and opening-up, carried forward the pioneering spirit, kept striving, forged ahead and turned from a backward village into a young and open, vigorous and dynamic city after overcoming difficulties and bottlenecks. On May 21, the “New Weinan: 40 Years On”2018 convergence media reporting tour kicked off in the city.

　　The activity was hosted by Weinan Cyberspace Administration with People's Daily Online Shaanxi Channel and the Shaanxi Center of cnpharm.com being co-organizers. At the launch ceremony, Wang Lewen, Director of the Shaanxi Bureau of People’s Daily delivered a speech. Li Mingyuan, Party Secretary of Weinan, inaugurated the tour and conferred the flag on the reporting team. In her speech, Wang Yu’e, member of Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Weinan Committee and Director of Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Weinan Committee, suggested the city is in an important period amid the efforts to carry out the strategy to foster new growth drivers, construct new hubs, unleash new vigor, create new life and build a new image, to accelerate the construction of a regional center of new-type industries, modern agriculture and culture tourism in eastern Shaanxi and the Yellow River Golden Triangle area and to create a sub-center of the Guanzhong Plain urban cluster. She added Weinan is also in a crucial stage in a move to continue to advance reform and opening up and pursue leapfrog development in the new era, which she said needs support from all walks of society. She also highlighted the role of the convergence media in publicizing the city in the Internet era.

　　Wang Lewen, Director of People’s Daily Shaanxi Bureau, suggested convergence media reports with various forms can well present Weinan’s efforts to develop the hinge economy, the gateway economy and the economy of flow.

　　As part of the launch ceremony, Li Mingyuan, Party Secretary of Weinan, declared the tour kicked off and conferred the flag on the reporting team. In the following five days, journalists from over 20 online media outlets made stops at 18 places in Weinan’s five districts and counties, recording and presenting the latest achievements in the city’s leapfrog development through photos, stories, videos and VR reports.
