2026 marks the 18th anniversary of the sister-city partnership between Richmond, Canada and Qingdao, China. Recently, the unveiling ceremony for the "Richmond-Qingdao Culture Lounge" was held at the Canada Shandong Chinese Business Association in Richmond, Canada.

Following the unveiling ceremony, guests and visitors on site visited the Culture Lounge and viewed exhibits displayed here, including photos of Qingdao, handicrafts and city brochures. All of them spoke highly of Qingdao's development in recent years. Many visitors with ancestral roots in Qingdao and Shandong Province were deeply moved by the tremendous changes taking place in their hometown. They recalled, discussed and painted a vivid picture of their fond memories of the city.
At the "Setting Sail Across the Ocean: A Date with Qingdao" Qingdao's Cultural Exchange Event held in Richmond, Canada previously, a variety of Qingdao specialties and cultural-creative products were on display, attracting wide attention from Canadian citizens. And this unveiling ceremony has further strengthened cooperation and exchanges in culture, education, business and other sectors, significantly promoting mutual learning and common development between the two cities.
