On August 13, overseas media representatives and foreign expats from Bangladesh, Canada, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Pakistan visited the National Technology Innovation Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Saline-Alkali Land in Dongying City, east China's Shandong Province, during the "Strolling Through Dongying, Decoding Yellow River Culture" International Communication Event. The delegation toured scientific research platforms and experimental fields. They gained first-hand insight into how scientific and technological innovation taps new potential for the comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land in Dongying.

Operated in May 2023, the Center becomes China's fifth national technology innovation center in the agricultural sector. Jointly established by the Shandong Provincial Government and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, it brings together 18 domestic research institutes, universities and enterprises to conduct collaborative research on bio breeding, yield improvement and ecological utilization of saline-alkali land.

During the event, the delegation visited the experimental fields to observe the growth of various salt-tolerant crops and the on-site application effects of cutting-edge technologies. They exchanged views with staff on topic such as saline alkali land improvement, grain production as well as agricultural scientific and technological innovation.
Transformed from barren saline-alkali land into a fertile test ground for agricultural scientific and technological innovations, the practices of the National Technology Innovation Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Saline-Alkali Land demonstrates Dongying's achievements in advancing the integration of scientific and technological innovation with agriculture. It also serves as a bridge for the international community to understand China's agricultural progress.
