On October 2, Capital Airlines Flight JD471, under the new HNA Group, departed from Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport for Vancouver, Canada. This marks the official resumption of the direct Qingdao-Vancouver air route, the relaunch of Shandong Province's only passenger service with nonstop flights to North America. Originating in Hangzhou and stopping over in Qingdao, the route operates one flight every Friday.

The resumption ceremony was held in the terminal building of Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. An interactive passenger market and photo booth area for the air route were also set up at the venue.

The Qingdao-Vancouver route was first launched in 2016, marking Capital Airlines' maiden air service to North America. Following this resumption, passengers from east China's Shandong Province travelling to North America no longer need to transfer via Beijing, Shanghai or other cities. A nonstop air link has been re-established between Qingdao and the West Coast of North America.
The resumption further improves Capital Airlines' intercontinental route network based in Qingdao. Since its establishment in 2016, Capital Airlines' Qingdao Base has launched four intercontinental nonstop routes from Qingdao to London, Moscow, Sydney and Melbourne. With the comeback of the Vancouver service, the airline's network now covers three continents including Europe, Australia and North America, representing a more robust layout of its international routes.

To improve passengers' travel experience, Qingdao Airport has partnered with Capital Airlines to launch a range of passenger-friendly benefits. Eligible international transit passengers are entitled to free accommodation, together with additional perks such as gourmet tastings at chain restaurants in downtown areas. For arriving inbound passengers, limited complimentary tickets for cultural and tourism attractions including boat cruises at the Olympic Sailing Center and the Qingdao Ocean World are also available.
