Weinan: 40-year Endeavor have Created a New City

　　Since China’s reform and opening up 40 years ago, Weinan, once an agricultural area, gradually grew into a promising emerging city. As the cradle of Chinese civilization, it marks the connection of western and eastern China. Nowadays, industrialized Weinan is a city of openness and creativity.

　　Entering a new era, Weinan is ready for further prosperity. Adhering to "Chase and Exceed" positioning and "Five Steadily Development" goals, Weinan firmly grasped  key development opportunities like "Guanzhong Plain Urbanization" " Yellow River Golden Triangle Industrial Transformation Demonstration Zone of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan" and other initiatives, Weinan focuses on projects building hundred billion level industries of fine chemicals, new energy, colored building materials, cultural tourism and modern agriculture. Weinan made all the effort to build itself as sub-core city of Guanzhong Plain Urban agglomeration.

　　Over the past 40 years, Weinan have achieved leap-forward development in economic and social perspectives, and its comprehensive strength has been improved greatly. From 1978 to 2018, Weinan's total economic volume achieved four breakthroughs and expanded seven times. Weinan has changed dramatically.

　　Over the past 40 years, the industrial structure of Weinan has undergone profound changes. Primary, secondary and tertiary industries' share of the city's GDP changed from 43.3:34.6:22.1 in 1978 to 13.9:47:39.1 in 2017. Weinan is the sub-core city of Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration, and the east gate of Shaanxi Province. After 40 years of hard work, today, there are two high-speed rail connections, six railways, three highways and 22 national roads in Weinan. The unique advantages of being a hub and a portal are emerging. Living conditions of Weinan citizens upgraded greatly; now people are able to choose fashion and comfort over practicality.

　　Over the past 40 years, the consumption expenditure in housing, transportation and communication, education and entertainment and health care has increased obviously, and the proportion of food consumption expenditure is decreasing.

　　Sticking to high-quality development, Weinan is going forward with a down-to-earth attitude, speeding up the construction of Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration sub-core city, welcoming a new era full of possibility.
