A journey to Yanqing: Shanghujiao and Xiahujiao Village
In the southern part of a valley in the east of Yanqing, there is an old village, Xiahujiao Village. In the village, visitors can see smoke curling up from kitchen chimneys, and hear the sound of crowing cocks and barking dogs. Xiahujiao Village has been maintaining the plainest image, while the popular BNB, Hawthorn Courtyard is hidden here and perfectly fitting into the tranquil atmosphere. Heading to the north along the valley, one can see another village, Shanghujiao Village. In this village, vivid tigers (“Hu” in Chinese) are painted on the external wall of the every house. The tiger culture wall of 1600 square meters has recorded the historical change of tiger culture in the village, and attracted lots of visitors. Based on its tiger culture, the village has held tiger culture festival and gained opportunities for its new development.
